Wanted: Website Review Remortgage.com website review please

Hi,

we have just launched our new site on remortgage.com. We spent a fair amount of time on it and would really welcome any feedback, good or bad.

You spend so long looking at a site you lose perspective so all opinions welcomed.

It was Khalid on this forum (not username Khalid) who tragically died last year.

He made the template then i had Shaun, another designer/programmer add and edit etc and program it. Khalid was a very talented guy.

Thanks for the comments so far, all passed on.

The typos are with the company that we lease the rates feed from!!! unprofessional but they have been asked to change it.

The flashing button causes the error in IE, ill get that sorted.

Yes 2010 is year to develop and try to resist other names that come up!!!!!!!

I'm just at my moms for a coffee - her old pc is IE6 and the css breaks in that. I know nobody hardly uses IE6 but thought i'd mention it.

Site looks great and I've only got a really niggly bit of feedback for you!

I'm a big fan of Yahoo! YSlow for Firebug

Biggest problem for me there is no expires on images/javascript/css and the amount of images/javascript/css, combining them where possible and telling the browser to cache them will make your site a bit snappier.

Great looking site. I'm sure it's going to be a great earner for you. Only a couple of comments:

I wouldn't colour the Re in Remortgage.com in a different colour (i.e. green). I don't look at remortgage as a two word domain, and for most of the uk population (i.e. those of us with existing mortgages) then it is a remortgage we're looking for.

I really like the live remortgage rates. It's the area I was drawn to. I would make it a little more prominent and central and perhaps expand it a little i.e. fixed rates and variable rates.

Oh no, that's terrible . It seems that he was a talented and friendly guy. Perhaps then it's fitting that his designs continue to impress people to this day. Here's wishing you every success with the site.

Really nice looking site, just a couple of small comments.

I assume you make money through the get a quote page so I would get rid of the adsense on the inner pages, or move it as I think it cheapens the professional look of the site. Just my opinion of course.

On the Remortgage Rates page I find the non-active tabs a little hard to read as the white text on the pale orange background doesn't stand out much.
