There are some genuinely nice and amazing people on this forum. It takes my breath away when someone is just spontaneously decent.
In the past 36 hours I've been the recipient of spontaneous acts of generosity and goodwill, which I just didn't see coming.
One member here contacted me and offered to give me a bundle of good domains 'if I thought I could make good use of them.' They weren't rubbish domains. They were ones I might have seriously considered registering if they'd been available.
Then another person, noticing a .co.uk domain name I had, out of the blue pm'd me and said 'You can have the .uk' which made a pair that will be really useful for my development plans. I felt like I shouldn't just take it off them like that, because I would have bid on it had it been for sale, so I offered to pay, but they were insistent: 'No thanks - this is a gift.'
I've experienced all sorts of kindness and helpfulness here. Another well-known member cut me a really generous deal, paid for over a period of a year, for a name which I have big plans for - simply because it has a connection to my family. They could have sold it for more elsewhere.
Then there are individuals who post here, known to many, who have been generous in their helpfulness - for example at the time of the .uk ROR.
Now - I don't expect people NOT to press for a fair price on hard-won domains, and frankly I don't expect these random acts of kindness to just keep on happening. No-one owes me a living. But when it happens, it is actually quite moving and - given that we all know there are sharks and tricksters in this industry - it reminds me that there are also people who it's genuinely good to interact with.
Thank you to both people who sort of shocked me this week. Both of you are quality and class.
