Wanted: Website Review Private Plates

Hi guys,

After noticing a spike in traffic and earnings I saw that this site is now showing on page 1 of Google. I decided to move the site away from BANS and give it a bit of a revamp. Im hoping that the new private plate search box I made is working well for all browsers.

Private Plates

For now I have just moved the content that was on the original mini site over. I will be adding to and improving on this. Have also put some redirects in place to shift any messy old urls I spotted. (So no doubt the site may drop in rankings for a bit after this thread

)

Any comments or suggestions welcome!

Works fine if you use a keyword such as mac or dog etc but if you search specifically for a reg such as GH54 PLU then it's fine saying that it's not available but you could have some alternative suggestions or something on the page ?

Suggestion for you Matt - Why not log all the searches made, and then over time develop and Area "Private Plates available" - where each page is linked to suing the keyword search, shows up results etc - pretty much like how who is sites do with domain name searches?

You will grow a lot of content over time and get nice long tail rankings...

Oh yeah - A few more ideas:
"private number plates" is the higher searched word - why not add it on your title?

This site takes a lot of the long tail KWs and creates content around it - maybe worth looking at it for more ideas? http://www.privatenumberplates.org.uk/number-plates/personalised-number-plates/

Yes, searches are currently being logged and will also be adding targeted content pages in the near future.

These guys have really good content that you can also get "ideas" from to get organic traffic example http://www.numberplates.com/fun/most-expensive-plates.asp

Nice way to get people interacting and sharing your site - especially if you ran udated versions of those posts.

To get links you could maybe run a survey amongst domainers : What is worth more in liong run - A good Generic Domain Name or a great Number Plate"? Then post the results with your commentary - getting maybe links from loads of UK domainers?

I have run private plate affiliate programs before. Waste of time in my opinion. Ebay much better and I’ll be sticking with that until the DVLA open up their program!
