A forum I acquired earlier this year with regret I'm "considering" letting go, It was always a plan to acquire it, revamp, make it generate some revenue and sell a year or two down the line.
Unfortunately Ive had so much work on since taking the forum on ive only got as far as a small revamp and the start of constructing a revenue stream which i had planned.
The forum is a private forum, so doesnt benefit from search traffic of any kind other than the main keywords, the members use their real names rather than usernames and its privacy is the sole reason most of them are there so you should not enter this thinking you can open the forum to the public.
It has between 250 - 350 members online daily with between 100 - 200 posts ( alot of lurkers but all real , moderated members ) , 3700 member accounts all of which have been manually moderated and accepted, regular mass mails about recent forum posts shows very few bounce mails.
Takes very little moderation and management, new registrations are checked that the registration is using their name rather than username and then accepted.
The niche is a product related niche, the plans to monetise it was to provide a platform of which shop/product owners listed their products for sale on the forum marketplace, the forum then took 10% of any sale made. The part is pretty much setup and ready to go but needs advertising and getting shop owners on board which is where i lack the time currently.
My plan to generate some search traffic was to have a public article blog as apart of the site and ofcourse the marketplace mentioned above.
Over 200k page views a month with the average time on site being 7mins +. Members are mostly middle aged men.
Site takes up around 8GB of data because of being Image heavy but all images are compressed through Kracken.io which has resulted in a 70% compression rate from previously over 15GB of attachments + other images.
This really is a base ready for someone to come in and just want to run a forum, the leg work has been done with the redevelopment from vbulletin to Xenforo.
