Thanks for the amazing 45+ post feedback on poetry.co.uk, which helps me determine it has a minimum value of £5000 (with debate on its potential beyond that).

So I'll invite a few thoughts today on:

Prayer.co.uk

I'm thinking it could probably sell for between £3500 and £4000, but what do I know?

Instinctively I don't feel there's so much click-on potential or commercial potential as Poetry.co.uk

On the other hand, if I could get £10000 for the two of them, I'd start to think seriously of selling them. What do people think it's worth?

I think its very hard to value is this domain. As with any domain its worth what someone is willing to pay. How long have you had it for? and how many offers have you had on the domain and whats the highest offer? That will probably give you an indication of its value. Also, how much did you pay for it?

In my opinion you could probably sell it quickly for around £1,000 if your lucky. If your looking for 3,500 to 4,000 you would probably have to hang on to it for a lot longer until the right buyer comes around.

I sometimes buy domain names to develop, but this is not one i would want to buy myself, its very hard to think of anything profitable that you could do with it.

Good luck with it whatever you decide to do.

Poetry great, prayer, and I don't mean real ones if my bosses ever read this, is mid to high XXX at most surely?

Anyone thinks more put some money on the table as that seems to be best way to value.

Tricky one really I agree, difficult to monetise, but as a catchy, easy to remember/type name etc, could be a good buy for an end user, even if they are not religiously inclined.

Could stick it up for auction on Domain Lore and see? :)

That would be my advice, if you really need to sell the two domain names to finance your way through uni, i would work out the minimum you could accept for both of them, then stick them both up for auction with a reserve price on them both. If they sell great news, if not, hold on to them.

They are both probably quite difficult domain names to monetise and would probably take a great deal of work and time on them both to make them earn any money, which it sounds like you wont have much time to spare if you going to be at uni. I know I wouldnt want to spend much my of time developing them.

Prayer/couk is not in the same league - You'd be hard pushed to get that one to a grand, and even then i'm not sure there's going to be any takers.

I was offered £1250 for it about three years ago and turned it down. Prayer is important in my own private life and I had hopes of developing the site in a way which would build up to a really helpful resource. I still could. It's just that actually helping people is what excites me, I love my work, and so I've come round to seeing my domains more commercially, and not for the sentimental reasons I first got them.

I think Prayer.co.uk may be one of those I try to get - what do you reckon - £20 a month - from. If I can do the same with ten of my domains and earn £100 a month from poetry.co.uk then that would get me what I need for my studies, and I'd still have the domains to sell at the end.

On the other hand I feel zero confidence of the techniques to make the domains pay their way that way. But my intuition is to hold on to Prayer.co.uk rather than sell as cheap as some have suggested, and use for income for 3 years, whereas if I got a solid price somewhere else (like £7000 for poetry.co.uk) well that in itself would equate to £200 a month income all through uni. Or I raise the income by NOT selling.

Hmmmm... lots to think about :-?

I can see this one being hard to monetise but i think your right to hold out for a bit more as to the right end user should definitely be worth at least mid xxxx
Looking through this weeks DN Journal I see Gospel.org sold for $35000 so domains in the sector definitely have value maybe try and flog it to one of them TV churches that seem to be popping up over here now as well

This is another good name but you'll have to do your research carefully to find the right buyer.

Could be 10k if you get some religious group interested but probably going sell for more like £750.

Good luck

Yes, I tend to think that either someone of faith will want the domain with a sense of conviction and offer... well I'd say £3000... or as you say, it's not going to happen, in which case it's developer time

Religious names are funny. I've had approaches from time to time about various religious domains. But generally religious people are hoping maybe out of charity I'll sell a domain for £75. Well I have done, but not this one. Nor for £750. I'd sooner keep this one and use it myself. It has to be in the thousands before I'm interested in selling.

Some domains are like that. You sort of don't really want to let them go. Others I couldn't care less.

Guys, what's the matter with you? This name could be worth a fortune - sign up as an affiliate with the Catholic Church selling absolution; two 'Our Father's' three 'Hail Mary's', continue to checkout - £19 + VAT. Trip to Lourdes? £1500. Turin Shroud tea-towels, pack of four £9.99.

Joking aside, wonder what the legalities are of selling absolution...

---------------

Susannah, I think you're right to not entertain less than about £3k.

Perfect answer. I actually think it's worth a bit more than £3k. You need to park these or get some WP pages done, and monetise. Then you'll get some idea of 'type in' traffic.

I'm sure I read about a website a while ago where they were getting people to pay to have messages delivered to loved ones in the great beyond - the messages were to be delivered by terminally ill people who were about to cark it.

I'm sure there are loads of lonely people out there who'd love to have someone say a prayer for them, or other religious people who'd love to buy a short ebook of "The 20 Most Beautiful Prayers For All Occasions" or similar.

There must be some way to earn a crust from it.
