Hi all

I very rarely buy domains anymore but just spotted this one, I thought it was worth the £7 odd quid for a couple of years.

Poker Town .co.uk

Will make it into a fun site with links ect.

What you think a good find or have I wasted £7

Depends on what your expectations are.

Online poker has high affiliate commissions but is ultra competitive.

The UK market has declined massively since peak in 2009, when it was banned in the USA.

It isn't going away and will probably grow again - various states in the US are on the way to re-legalizing again now.

The name could be a good brand, but on its own it isn't worth anything. You will be competing for rankings with plenty of sites which have spent fortunes on features and content, so you'll need an original angle to get anywhere.

Thanks for the advice, I was thinking of just having some fun with it.

I think I'm going to use fun cartoon map and add poker sites ECt I. Like a directory with offers around the map.

It will be fun creating I think if nothing else.

Trouble is the market is so competitive and dominated that for a name to even get a sniff in the field it needs to be super generic etc even then anything other than a com in today’s market is unusual (10 -15 years ago that might have been different) it was prev regged and dropped unfortunately all these don’t really point to a gem to me if return is not a driving factor then have some fun with it

Personally I quite like it.

That said there are lots of alternatives, possibly which could be picked up for reg fee or a little more.

As has been said already the main value is in what you do with it. Don't think it was a bad reg though as it has a certain nice ring to it. Good luck!
