Came across a website the other day which I "think" was using ajax for a photo gallery. Basically, on mouse over, it made the image alot bigger so you could see it, but it def. wasn't just a image mouse over if that makes sense. Anyone know what if might be??

Search for ajax gallery scripts etc. but cant seem to find anything that suits.

How did the large image appear ? was it in like a pop up or in a designated area ?

See I cant find the bloody site even after trawling my history....

I think, there were a couple of images, and if you hovered over it, it just made it larger where the mouse was, similar to a pop up but within the same window. The main page went a little darker while you viewed it - or you have to click the image for that to happen.....

Sounds confusing (to me at least) but its p**sing me off trying to find it.

No problem.

I got a very basic lightbox and have paid a few times to have it updated and upgraded, I also wrote a proprietry back end to update and manage galleries with mine.

Its a very effective tool, with a little work you can apply photo advertising for people to buy copies of the photos thru adbrite or other as well serve ads on them as well.

perfect - i've been looking for that too
many thanks guys

Dead easy to use, and even integrate into other products. Lightbox uses scriptaculous/prototype. There's a new jquery version as well - written by other people, using the latest jquery.

There's a lot of new javascript gallery scripts coming out, e.g the types used on the news.bbc.co.uk page and on some revolutiontwo.com themes.
