Just sold over £5,500 worth of bikes and bike gear on eBay... augh.

Most of it on commission for my friends down the bike shop. It really hurts working out how much commission PP takes for a simple transfer.

Bike wheels: £258
ebay takes: £13.13
PP takes: £8.97
Left with: £235.90

I understand the eBay fees, we get a better price on eBay as it gets more eyeballs - but the PP fee is totally wrong.

Nice business mind you!

Paypal do take the piss yes, They must of had thousands and thousands of me in the last couple of years.

On a better note though I got scammed on ebay £360 for a mobile phone I bought. Ebay clearly stated that I was only covered by paypal for £150, so I was suprised when they decided to give me a full refund. The seller has done a complete runner so paypal are out of pocket with that transaction.

You should ring them sometime, the robot call system is very funny :)

Gets worst if your dealing with multiple currencies.

Ebay seems to have their own exchange rates, they certainly don't match the open market or bank rates.

If you think PayPal are bad, try dealing with Barclaycard merchant services.

what peaves me about paypal is there chargeback process,i bought a printer of ebay and the seller sent me an email stating he had dropped it and he returned the payment back via paypal, now the payment was withdrawn from my bank account and when paypal returned the money they deposited it into my paypal account and not my bank account,so if the value is less than £50 you are charged to put the money back into your own bank account, there must be a law saying it must be returned from where it came.....

Yeah they really give ya some bum loving when dealing in multi-currencies.

You buy at $1000, pay $1000 and they take £550, the refund comes back and you get £528 back because the exchange rate has fucked you.

Because you paid $1000 and they gave you $1000, its all good with them :(

Paypal's fee is 2.5% above the official exchange but they only update their system twice a day.

You can use this to your advantage if you play it right.

Ebay have taken propay.com on board now. Perhaps a better experience?
