confident

confidentiality.org.uk
Generic. Says what it does on tin. Ideal for something akin to samaritans. They don't have huge things to pay out for. Lots of volunteers. They have to pay for advertising though, these charities. A lot of them are limited companies & are quite savvy, like alcoholics anonymous. They know if something will bring in more, they'll pay. Another angle is confidentiality agreements & niche law issues. .org.uk is on ascendency but realistic value at mo is £xxx low. Much more to right enduser. Longish & prone to typo is undoing a little. I think for a domain like this for these two issues it goes back to what you said on thread the other day that certain terms & there are many of them are as good if not better than .co.uk
A good pick up china, Pred

Thanks Pred

To be honest, it's not one of the best (far from it) but it will go in with my 'one worders' as a bundle sometime...

Just needed some c's to fill in the A-Z...

anyone can use

anyone can use a .org.uk
a charity, a company, an organization, an individual, you can blog, set up ecommerce site etc. There are zero restrictions. Follow the herd if you will. You know what happens to lemmings!

Just trying to save you a reg fee, but good luck in the wild frontier of .org.uk. One thing they do have going for them is that they seem to get higher Google placement in the natural listings, as Google seems to prefer to promote non commercial people naturally, leaving the commercial ones to pay for adwords. Check keywords like catalogue on Google.

Just as an FYI:

org.uk Second Level Domain
The org.uk Second Level Domain is managed by Nominet UK and is a fully open domain. It is for organisations which do not 'fit' into any of the other Second Level Domains of the .uk Top Level Domain. These may include: charities, trades unions, political parties, community groups, educational councils, professional institutions, etc.

co.uk Second Level Domain
The .co.uk domain is managed by Nominet UK and is a fully open domain. It is intended for use by commercial enterprises and businesses, and is the largest Second Level Domain in the UK.

Winne

Think your missing a few points:

1) I said this one was rubbish...

2) .org.uk is a cheap alternative...

3) Sales of the extn are increasing as is uptake - It's an extn on the turn - Miss out to your own detriment....

winnie,
You know jack. Not jack duckworth...jack boll**ks . I saw your posting on telnet.co.uk LOL
While it's important what's after the 'DOT' , nice to have something quality before it too. For all the reasons aforementioned blah, blah , blah. .org.uk is a growing market. Fact. i've sold 8 in the past fortnight.
Some people haven't woken up yet & can only park & drop which is what they can do as far as i'm concerned. Everyone is more than entitled to their opinion & appraisal, of course. Just don't knock web development potential & lateral thinking, which is what makes this 'game' interesting. That's the first rule,.... there are no rules! (unless you're silly enough to reg a trademark!)
Amen Predator

I dont deny .org.uk does sell, I have sold and given away quite a few myself, all to charities or non profits but still.

Domain Parking is the easy option, there has been the debate over content verses PPC going on for quite a while now, i guess it all comes down to time and priorities.

Some people just have to much free time on their hands! ;)

Good luck with the development and keep up the sales.
