Hi Everybody.
I have a website that is open for offers, which I will provide as much detail on as possible.
The website is an online community for UK athletics enthusiasts and it's name/brand is Eightlane. You can have a look at the website at eightlane[dot]org.
The community consists of four sections, which are:
- The Homepage, which runs Wordpress and shows athletic news and updates. These are currently updated manually but we do have a plugin that grabs the latest news from popular sites and saves them as drafts so we can pick and choose which to publish.
- The Videos page, which runs Wordpress and consists of either videos from our contributors, videos that are sent in to us or videos we share from other sites.
- The Forum, which runs Vanilla Forums and is self managed by the forum members.
- The Training blog section, which runs Wordpress and lists blogs from various athletes who send their training in periodically.
We also have Twitter and Facebook profiles, which can be updated automatically through Wordpress. We have just under 3000 Twitter followers and 400 Facebook likes.
The traffic to the site averages around 50,000 visits of which around 20,000 are unique. The average time on the site per visit is just over 3 minutes and page views per month are just under 150,000. The traffic source overview is roughly 2/5 search engines (either searches for 'eightlane' or long tail keywords), 2/5 referral traffic (from Twitter, Facebook and other athletics sites) and 1/5 direct traffic (from regular users).
From April 2012 to June 2013 we had an advertising deal in place with an online sports shop who paid £1000 per month. We parted ways because they were paying late each quarter and we didn't appreciate being treated unprofessionally. In hindsight this was a mistake since we don't have much advertising/marketing experience and so replacing the advertisement deal hasn't yet got off the ground. Currently we have some Google ads placed on the site, which bring in less than £100 per month. Not ideal.
In terms of a price for the site, we don't have one. If we would have sold the site when we had the advertising deal in place then it would have been more clear cut. As it stands, it's more complicated because although the potential is there, we aren't generating any where near the amount we should be. So I am opening the site up to offers from you guys on here, who may have more experience with monetising sites like this.
I hope I have provided all the information you need but if I have missed anything then please let me know.
Thanks,
Chris
