Hi people,

Does anyone have / know of / have a script or website for a bulk online whois checker / lookup tool?...

At work I am behind multiple firewalls and masses of Internet protection so I need a bulk whois checker that works via port 80...

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Rich

I was thinking of redesigning the forum header, since no one can find the donate button either

Ha Ha, very good! It actually took me awhile to find it hidden away up there!

Forums are notoriously difficult to monetise, donations especially difficult to obtain. How is the private membership thing going?

Could you not actually monetise tools like this?

A blank page is'nt much use, it does'nt even link back to the forum.

If you want / need help with this / want to pass it to someone i'd be happy to help with a logo redesign / header. :)

You can't let others use it though, I believe. Or something along those lines.

I think its the other way round.. ie its for others to use

Can I use the WHOIS2 to query the register for myself?
No, the WHOIS2 service is designed to provide a gateway for your clients to access the Nominet WHOIS.You may not use the WHOIS2 service in such a way that you are both the end user and the WHOIS gateway

What can I use the WHOIS2 for?
You can use the WHOIS2 to provide a whois lookup facility for your clients.

So its for Registrars essentially, but not WHOIS lookup sites or for your own personal use?

I have Whois2 access and no tag.

They do however check usage so unless your site is busy they will see your abuse/use. So make a public facing script too :)

I keep meaning to make a bulk whois tool to utilise my whois2 but I never get around to it :(, now its used to generate a list of links :)

I am still curious how a few ISPs have gotten around the 1000 per day per person limit. I also found that whois2 is limited by number of total lookups too :)

there's a bunch of them out there, but it seems like they all cache everything and some of the datas old

trophychoc, many sites cache the data do as not to go over the limit (thats their reason anyway), most that I know of that cache tend to request new data if its a week old or close to expirary.

bulktool.co.uk has been in my "to reg" spreadsheet for months. Never got around to regging it though :) Still available.

Donations to admin if you take it ;)
