Hi guys,

I have a new vps and they have given me custom nameservers telling me to register them with my registrar. I have my own tag and have no idea how to do this on nominet. Can anyone walk me through it?

When i go to the domain name clicking modify, i add the new ns1 & 2 with the ip addresses click confirm and i get this "not modified for reason: V024 Missing glue record for server ns1.domain.co.uk"

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Stacey

Do ns1 and ns2 exist on the domain already? check them at https://mxtoolbox.com/DNSLookup.aspx

The OP did say 'i add the new ns1 & 2 with the ip addresses' so I assume ip addresses are being entered. If they are then it sounds like the nameserver itself hasn't propagated or been set up.

You need to add a glue record at nominet, you do this by assigning the name servers to your domain (use the web domain manager). You can add to your .uk domain directly, you don't need another one. use the 'add new nameserver' tab
You need to specify the ip address, which will create the glue record if your adding a nameserver at your domain.

Glue
If a nameserver is used for the same domain in which it is named then the IP address(es) of that nameserver must also be specified. This IP address data is known as 'glue' and without it the nameserver cannot be added to our zones.

For example, if the nameserver ns1.internet.co.uk is used as the nameserver for internet.co.uk then the IP address must be supplied.

Glue can be supplied even when not needed but we do not use it. It is not added to the zone.
