Hi – in new to this forum.

I’m writing software to use Nominets Automation system to catch domains as they drop.

Nominet.co.uk says that for PGP Signatures: ‘The date/time of the signature is checked to ensure that it was not created in the future or more than 72 hours before receipt of the message. If it is out of date then the operation is rejected.’

As I haven’t got a clue how to programmatically work with cryptography I plan to statically include a (pre-generated) signature with the registration email. As long as the signature is < 72 hours old will this work or does a new signature need to be generated the second the email is sent?

Also, how long does it take to become a registrar – get at TAG and register your PGP keys? – I haven’t started this process yet.

Many Thanks,
Max

It can take from 2 days to a week or so Max for it to be processed I'd say, you apply to join, phone them up to pay, apply to become a registrar, do a small test, apply for a TAG, apply for DAC access.

So it depends how quickly Nominet deal with each stage.

yes, you can pre-generate a signature and use that, but needs to be within the valid time range.

Plus it dpends how you pay, if you pay the £600 approx membership fee to nom by cheque it will be over a week, credit debit card will be around 3-4 days I imagine.

Thanks.

Im going to apply this week - no credit terms required and paying by credit card, so im hoping 2-3 days.
