You can buy expired domain names via any registrar such as 123-reg

you can bid them on godaddy too?!

Can you ? cant say ive ever seen a .co.uk in godaddy expiring auctions, where would you see the .co.uk list at godaddy ? ( if there is one  )

Since you can't transfer .co.uk to godaddy ( at least you couldnt havent tried it recently ) i doubt they can grab the .co.uk from expiring lists, of course i dont know so someone correct me if im wrong

Transfer to godaddy ?

Hell you can't even transfer from godaddy :p

I had a few in their own accounts at nom and didnt wanna pay £10 each to move em, but with the one account with like 50 names in, i just paid nom the £10 to transfer, it was soooo much easier, and even at maccy D wages, well worth my time to just pay.

1. There are various commercial services which will provide you with lists, e.g. caught.co.uk.
2. You might need to book a slot with a dropcatcher such as caught.co.uk if it's going to be a sought after domain, otherwise you can wait until it fully expires and becomes available again and register it through a bog standard registrar.

The full story, Andy Pandy version:

.uk names become suspended before they expire. You can use the "Calculate UK Domain Drop Dates" link to work out roughly when a suspended domain will expire, although they are often renewed.

When a name actually expires, it becomes available for registration again. Anyone can "catch" it by registering it through any registrant on the web, although you have to be very diligent if you're catching it for yourself. Many people prefer to employ someone to try to catch it for a fee. Otherwise, you have to check many times (at least every half hour during business hours, and outside that) over a period of a week, to stand a chance of catching a domain.

Nominet TAG holders, ie. people who can register names with Nominet, have the advantage of being able to access the Nominet database, so they can search for domains which are about to expire. Joe Public has to check the Nominet Whois to get lucky, or buy those lists mentioned above.

The lists that are put up on Acorn show names about to expire, or names that are available which are unregistered. To buy a domain, you just go to a registrar and register it - then make a courtesy donation to Acorn via Paypal for bringing the name to your attention.
