Dear Admin,

Was wondering if it would be good to have dedicatied new gTLD section in forum so we can chat/rant about it all as it progresses.

It does have implications on .uk in a sort of holistic sense.

Just a thought.

I see that as being highly contentious. From what I've seen on other forums, the tensions between the pro- and anti-new GTLD camps make PC and Mac users look like best bosom buddies.

(It would probably be more accurate to say "believers" and "non-believers" because "anti" sounds like they are opposed to them, whereas the reality is that they just can't see them working - not the same thing)

I also think a section would be beneficial.

Regardless of what anyone's thoughts are on the matter, the new tlds are here to stay.

Lets move with the times. This is a domain forum after all

The beauty of Acorn is its focus on the UK namespace. There is an infinite amount of chatter about the new GTLD on DN Forum, Namepros, etc. i.e. the big general forums (where the signal to noise ratio is generally much worse than on here)

I don't see what having a section about them brings to this particular forum, since the Acorn audience is not a particularly representative cross-section of the worldwide domaining population (since it's slanted very much to the UK or UK interests) so the perspectives on here will be less diverse than on the above-mentioned forums. Given that the new GTLD are global, this diversity of perspectives is potentially crucial.

I thought this forum was "nuts about domains".

The people that are interested will contribute to a new tld section, those that are not will ignore it.

I agree with Edwin. It's the UK focus acorn has that makes it a great place to be.

Yes + 1
Can't imagine adding another 1000 to the discussions, and people looking for opinions on their grannies name dot sexy.

I would've thought uk members would be interested in what could potentially revolutionise the internet! No harm in providing a platform for the discussion surely.

I think there should be a section for it.
