I have mentioned this a couple of times previously in different threads however, nothing has ever come of it.

A lot more people are promoting Domain Lore auctions in the "offers invited thread" as there is no other section for them.

I think there should be a specific forum to advertise DL, sedo, ebay etc auction threads.

EDIT - I thought I added a poll but it's now showing up. If admin/mods could add a yes or no poll that would be great.

It's tricky as auctions have a very short time-scale. I developed DomainBid.co.uk to solve that as it's always current, plus there is a section for it on the homepage (right hand side).

I will give it some more thought how I could integrate this to AD forums.

I think Ben just means rather than people posting 'xyz.co.uk now on DomainLore' in 'Offers Invited' there could be another forum ('Auction Announcements' ?) where people can post domains that have been sent to auction on DL / Sedo etc.

Good idea IMHO.

People (including me) like to promote their auctions in the way of a thread. Doing it this way means the thread shows up under "New Posts" so people searching will see it, unlike sidebar links etc.

IMO by creating a separate forum for "domains for sale by auction" will still allow the above to continue and it won't interfere with the offers threads.

Exactly! :)

That's no different than now though, someone could bid in a thread that has a domain in that is currently on DL.

Why does it need to be a seperate forum? I'm not saying it shouldn't be, but there doesn't appear to be any specific reason posted so far.

I agree, mainly because auctions seems to be the most active way to sell domains of late so let's try it:

http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/domain-name-auctions.html

I have made it specific to Acorn Auctions, Domain Lore and Sedo auctions.

You must select which one it is when posting (to allow for filtering by marketplace)

One auction per thread

Thread title to be domain name only

Just want to point out that I'm not trying to single out members who do this, as I am one of them!

excellent idea Ben
and thanks Alan for always sorting things so quick!

So that people who view this site via "New Posts" can see the forum the thread's in and make a decision to view/avoid it on that basis.

Nice one Alan, looks good IMHO.

Slightly off-topic, but it doesn't justify a new thread, is there any way to ignore an entire sub-forum when hitting 'New Posts', i.e. any threads in that particular sub-forum never appear?

Fair enough! I don't view via the new posts, so I hope it proves useful.

The reason I asked the question is that I don't like to see a cluttered home page on forums, as it can cause some confusion, especially for those new to AD. If there is a valid reason, then good stuff!!
