There's a backstory that this mother and son domaining team have been forwarding the domain to rival's teams and even having a message on their site telling the owner of the Brooklyn Nets that they should buy it.
The mother made a lot of money selling domains many many years ago, I believe roadrunner.com was one to Time Warner Cable.
The Nets owner had stated that they are very happy with their brooklynnets.com domain.
