Hi

Interesting one for you, I've found a co.uk that I want to use for a nice, normal shopping site, however, the .com equivalent is a very naughty site. Do you think goog and chums will take this into account in terms of search engine rankings? I like to think they will differentiate but if anyone has any thoughts or experience on the matter, would love to know?

Cheers

I just think you may get loads of hits but not many click throughs.

I have a site where people cant be finding what they are expecting as they see the homepage and click away..

I don't think it will affect the SEO performance of the .co.uk. The Google algorithm can check WHOIS data so it will see that the .co.uk is owned by someone else and I doubt that you will be unduly penalised.

You have more of a reputation issue because people might be shocked if they go to the .com by mistake.

I agree, could be an issue with mis-directed traffic, shame cos the .co.uk is perfect for what I want...will ponder it over Xmas

Cheers

Firebox.com the gadget site was called hotbox.co.uk but hotbox.com was a porn site so they changed their name as it was harming the business.
