NaoRobot.co.uk (880 local exacts, 9,900 global exacts)

Programmable humanoid robot that's recently been developed in Japan. The idea has been around for a few years - it used to be a robotic dog created by Sony, but I believe the new 'human' version has recently been/is about to be released.

Although very expencive (I think owning a top of the range robot could set you back £xx,xxx), it's quoted as being "the best invention of 2013" in a number of articles/magazines.

What do you guys think of owning the domain name?

Worthless.

"nao robot" is not a generic term. If the company that created it had named it something else, you would never have registered it. Clear trademark violation.

Yup, basically everything you need to know is within your post. "created by sony" is the giveaway, hence there being a (not actually that high yet) level of search volume for this product as there would be for most products.

There are probably many product domains with decent exacts available to register, most people with some experience will know to avoid registering them if they wish to steer clear of any legal issues that might arise from owning such a domain.

If you had registered it many years ago before the product was even known you would have had rights to the domain if used correctly, see thread on chanelbags.co.uk for a similar situation.

I'd just log into my nominet account and delete it personally.

the best invention of 2013? We are not even out of 2012 yet! lol.

Yeah, agreed, its a trademark so not even a reg fee imo.

one of those domains for the Grandchildren - by then NaoRobot as a reference will be long buried probably alongside you.

If you want to think/work that far ahead, go for a descriptive, But smart technology is not about to get that smart, Not in your lifetime anyway
