Are there no legal implications with these names? Two of the biggest clubs in the world.. I mean ManCity.com? Wowsa..

Yeh I know, totally agree

Well the previous owner had no contact from any of them in all the time they had been registered.(one previous owner in all that time)

Apart from he did mention Manutd said it was okay to use aslong as you didn't pretend to be impersonating them.. & this was about 8-9 years ago

all common sense I guess, but that's the only contact since 1997

To be honest I'm still swaying 50/50 about keeping or selling them on myself. :|

I was then writing how i doubt Mancity would be a registered trademark but looking at it , it is lol :

http://www.ipo.gov.uk/tmcase/Results/1/UK00002070913

And the Man united one , 100% trademarked and also says on their site.

REGISTERED TRADE MARKS

MANCHESTER UNITED

MAN UNITED

MAN UTD

MUFC

Having said that, its always pretty dependant on how strict they are in following up fan sites etc, i own a large football site which has a domain which could easily fall under the trademark of the club, however we've always had good relations with the club board and ive even spoken to their marketing director and the club chairman about the site previously to see if they wanted to purchase it, no come back has happened.

That being said, its been running since 2006 but it would only take a change of stance from the club and i suppose they could simply take it away, which is the reason i was planning a rebrand this year.

Yes, I was the same. I had another similar football domain for years without any problems. So guess it's down to each club themselves.

Generally speaking I think most clubs are fine as long as your not promoting things like porn, pretending to be the club itself, trying to contact them & sell for millions etc but agree with all the comments.

Cheers

Yeah i generally think that one of the main things is whether the club feel like you are treading on their toes or earning money from their brand, Years ago we had some copyright issues when using a part of their logo in some of the imagery on the site which we were asked very promptly to take it down or be shutdown, since then we've had no bother but at the time we were also 5th for the club name so i think being in competing terms for traffic brought us more attention than was needed.

Since that point the we targeted supporter related terms rather than official main terms.

Exactly right, I was the same before with a Leeds United domain a few years back which ranked Really well. (Believe it or not it actually ranked above the official site at one point) haha

They said they had no problems with us using the domain unless it was damaging them & stated it had to be clean content when we contacted them. (No porn/drugs/spamming etc) which was fine as we didn't plan on doing that anyway.

(We decided the contacting approach & it worked great on that occasion) but could have easily not done so & just developed.

I'll maybe give it another 24hrs or so & If I decide to keep the domains I will need to have a think about this with these two domains

mufc.co.uk is a really nice name as you can brand yourself away from "Manchester United Football Club" to "Man Utd Fan Club" :). If you have a BIN price in mind for this one please let me know.

Cheers,
Lee

and best of luck using those images... very, very risky investment :/

still, sweet, sweet names :)

good luck :)

Thanks for the comments/suggestions & pm offers, I think I'll possibly hold on to them for the time being & see if I can put some time into developing them.

Cheers
