I know little about mobiles so seeking any recommendations if possible.

Key features for me in order:
  • Ability to make and receive calls
  • Decent Mobile Browsing
  • Wifi connectivity
  • Emails
  • Good storage (or expandable)
  • Solid (I break things easily)

I guess I also need a decent tariff with a good data package.
Any opinions on the Nokia N95?

Cheers people

Dave

we use a nokia n95 for work and its excellent, though the only downside is its not touchscreen

ive had the orange SPV series and they are very stable (runs Mobile Windows)

basically anything from nokia is quality, dont touch anything from samsung, my mrs has one and its been in for repairs twice!

Cheers,

Funny you should say that. I've had a few samsungs and absolutely loved them, that was until my last sumsung phone.

I'll look up orange SPV. Can you have an O2 contract on them?

Guess that's the other thing, O2 network ideally.

nokia n95 8gig (not the original version!)

or

Nokia n93

both have GPS as well , the n93 gets lock quicker.

Im getting 1 black and 1 bronze Nokia 6500 classic when im next in Orange.

Very solid, slim phones.

Im not interested in browsing or cameras etc on my phones, aslong as it rings, texts and fits well in my pocket!

I have the N95 and think its excellent. I purchased the O2 bolton for unlimited web browsing which i would recommend if you will be browsing alot.

im a fan of the iphone i shall never return to the standard phone

Thanks for the responses!

I played around with a Blackberry before and didn't get on with it.
Think I'm favouring the N95

im a fan of the iphone i shall never return to the standard phone

iphone is a step back for me, no GPS or fast browsing likewise the camera is abit ropey :(

New version ought to change a fair bit of that :)

Im a fan of the HTC phones. They are the ones branded to the provider such as the TMobile vario.

I have an Iphone and would not use anything else. they are one great toy!

I mean every other phone on the market would not get an update to change the whole layout add new features - theres an update in June which is adding microsoft exchange and tons of other features cant wait.

Another vote for the N95 8GB here (seeing as I got mine two weeks ago).

Plenty of flexibility with adding 3rd party applications, decent WiFi connection that can find my router when I'm in the garden when my laptop can't
Also has a GPS receiver which works really well with Nokia Maps 2.0 (free satnav!) and any 3rd party satnav you install like TomTom, Garmin, etc.

The iPhone was my first choice, but it doesn't support MMS messages (I'm a tart and like sending pictures) so I discounted that idea.

I even wrote about my thought process - http://blog.jofftastic.co.uk/2008/01/i-think-i-need-an-iphone/

There's an N96 out soon, next month apparently which is basically an N95 with a revamp. It does look good but I'm not sure if I'd pay any more for it than an N95.

N95 downsides for me are that the keypad is quite narrow for a grown man to use (with MANLY hands), it's also a little bit recessed so it's not quite natural to move your thumb to type with. It's not a struggle by any means, just not 100% perfect IMO.
The handset is also a little plasticky for some reason - other Nokias seem to have a nice chunky metallic case.

I have HTC Touch Slide / T-Mob Touch Plus.

Great phone, but no built in GPS or wi-fi - but on T-Mob Web-n-Walk I can use 3G/HSDPA all day for about £7 pm.

Also T-Mob Vario III - awesome phone - does everything and more - just a bit big for me!

Thanks for the advice so far people

My contract isn't up until the end of next month so I may hold on to see what the N96 has to offer.

iPhone looks and sounds great but it just seems to lack some features.
