Posted for sale on Domain Lore: http://domainlore.co.uk/auctions/gems_id/101

I'm having a problem accessing Google's keyword tool right now. UPDATE: It's 90,500 with the old tool. Thanks domainseller.

I've found a few affiliate schemes for metal detectors so there shouldn't be any problems with anyone wishing to set up an affiliate site.

Cheers,

Chris.

Thanks for that. I think it's a great name. It's got me wanting a metal detector too. Maybe I'm just getting to that age in a bloke's life!

That's a much nicer number too!

Cheers,

Chris.

lol, just checked your profile and it says your 30, I am 31 and also thought about getting a metal detector so yes it must be the age :)

Nice domain, ashame I have money committments this week :|

ps. I'm not going to buy a metal detector, I'll give it another 19 years when it will be acceptable to have one (50 years old)

50!? I was never planning on living that long!

BTW: Love the way you're doing the typical dad trick Frank - buying the kids toys that you really want. Cunning!

I've been a detectorist, on and off, for over 30 years, and it is an exciting hobby. Yes, you can look like a twat in a hat at times, but most serious detectorists detect in groups, and they take it as seriously as domainers do regarding domains.

To be honest, anyone going into it with a view to making money, forget it. Apart from this outcome being extremely unlikely, it's frowned upon by the serious hobbyists.

I have to say though, it's a wonderful experience to push the spade into some piece of seemingly obscure piece of farmland, and turn up an old Roman or hammered, knowing that the last time someone set eyes on it could have been almost 2,000 years ago! That's the real value. There's no romance in digging up an old Roman simply to flog it on eBay for £2, any dumb schmuck can do that.

Invest in a Minelab detector, they weigh a ton so are not for weaklings, but our Australian cousins make the best on the planet, even though they charge a fair wack for them.

TBH, I would get more excitment from finding something really old than getting a few quid off Ebay.

Not going to comment in this thread again, it is supoose to be a sales thread.

Sorry OP

And I'll make this my last post since it's supposed to be a sales thread. Again, sorry, but it's been an interesting discussion.

i just couldn't help but laugh at the thought of people detecting in groups and the old concept of safety in numbers. I'm not sure that the fact that there's a group of you metal detecting doesn't just make the spectacle more humourours, i.e. 'look at that big bunch of twats!' :p

Seriously though, that's an interesting post Doubletap. I think I'm sold on the idea of a metal detector - so there's my Christmas present sorted. Plus, it goes well with the John O'Farrell British history books I've been reading recently. I think I, like a few of you seem to be, am prepared for middle age!
