Hello all, found the forum after seeing it mentioned on domainprices.co.uk. After doing a bit of a search I see I know one or two members (ratboy for one).

Anyway I'm selling massive.co.uk on sedo.

Firstly I'd be interested in your views on the value of sedo's appraisal, which was used as a basis for the asking price.

Secondly any advice you can give on selling the domain would be appreciated - how best to approach potential buyers etc?

Oh yeah, and obviously I'd be interested in any offers :)

Cheers.

The owner of massive.co.uk is offering it for sale for an asking price of 20,000 £!

If you dont ask, you dont get :)

Hi DB. As the seller it's just the price, whether that's to the end user or a broker.

I've no idea on domain prices but reallybig.co.uk is still available for those who can't afford the real thing?

Hi Jee, thanks for that.

Are Sedo's appraisals often overvalued then? Is it best leaving a price out then and simply asking for offers?

Nobody got any advice for ways of marketing the domain then?

massive

Hi smallbeer,
nice domain mate. problem with sedo is a lot of people think they should stay out of appraisals 'cos they obviously will say the most it could go for 'cos they work on commission & should stick to being the middleman.
Anyway it is a great domain & a buyer will come to you, no doubt. when, who knows. the only problem is, if it were a product (books etc), you know the players to approach.
it's a bit trickier with this. i can only think of massive sales (there's always the adult angle LOL but won't get quite as high price). talk to wwwdomain.name, he's the resident pornbaron!
best thing is to keep doing what you're doing, get advice. For .uk this is the best place. Keep asking people, cos such a nice domain there is no rush.
The last angle is , you know your price. we all have different bank balances & needs must. your call. more research is the key.
if it were mine, i'd keep asking advice & research possible people to approach.
min. i'd take £1500
max., there is no max. cos someone may just decide they want it & have deep pockets. cheers, Predator

It's a difficult domain, I think I recall in the 90s a term 'massive' for the dance scene, like jungerlist massive with a whoop whoop, but then there might be brands called massive and indeed it could have branding potential for any number of companies. I certainly don't see it going for £20,000 nor £10k although there's no harm starting it that way just doin't scare 'em off.

I have never got a paid domain appraisal done and never will, the buyer can figure out how much money they've got and how much they're willing to spend, if you undersell then it's undersold, simple as.

It's like thousands of other words, you might get lucky and find somebody who's looking for exactly that, but the odds are very long.
Having had a quick Google, there don't seem to be any obvious uses, but it's a 'good' generic. It would probably sell at about £500.

Pointing it at a page full of Adult links, isn't helping its value.

Massive was a term that was popular a few years back...
Not so today... That said, 'bottom line' value is really based on the buyers offers...
That and what you can negotiate...

Sedo's valuations are usually decent enough , as they are based generally on market data not just random guesswork.

The 10 pages of bumpf are just that, its the one page of comparative sales thats the interesting bit.

Can you post what they thought it was worth and which other sales they saw as comparable?

Thanks guys, all useful stuff.

I do like the domain so wouldn't sell unless I got a decent offer. I'm a web developer so may develop a site for it myself instead. Either way I'll build my own parking page for it next week.

I'm away for the weekend now but will check Monday if anyone else has anything to add.

Cheers.

Sure. They valued it at the price I set £20,000.

The recent comparable transactions were:

single.co.uk - 24.600 euros
lucky.co.uk - £7000
creative.co.uk - £7000
simple.co.uk - 35,000 $US

Based on the above I would say it is worth less than any of them so where do they get £20,000. I would also say both creative and lucky are better generics and they were £7000. In the end prices are set by what someone will pay but I can't see a value other than low £xxxx or less.
