my enduser .com sales are flying
.uk almost non existent lately

dunno
there's no limit to who wants to buy .com
my buyers this month from Sweden, U.S, China, Korea and England

UK businesses tend to be very blinkered and tight and somewhat rude I find
the sweet spot for .uk sales is very low in my opinion
I'm not talking about the best .uk domains that sell for big bucks occassionally, good domains though

thing is I and many others like me have sold a really nice .com 2 word for say $5k and the .co.uk isn't even regged and would only be worth regfee anyway

.com is in a class of it's own when selling and having people interested globally

I should also add my .com's are a lot better than my .uk's!
prob a diff story for others here who have amazing .uk portfolios

I like dealing with .com buyers as they tend to be entrepreneurs or investors as they are straight forward and nice to deal with
.co.uk endusers are little to medium firms and have to have meetings and come across as narky and take forever to make decisions and want to pay peanuts

weirdly though, in the past my best .co.uk sales have been to French or Italians ;)

Have to agree that I have experienced my best sales out with the UK. My highest sales have been to a large american firm who were polite, paid well and also paid straight away without me chasing. Although these were still .co.uk domains I was selling, it was a far better experience than selling to most UK companies which you have described pretty well in your post. Not all of course, but many.

A reflection on the position of the US and UK economies perhaps??

Rgds

Probably more a lack of understanding and awareness.

I'd be interested to see how the US businesses (big and small) have realised the power of domain names - compared to a lack-lustre UK audience.

I remember trying to sell some good geo location web design domains (geowebdesign.co.uk names) - nice exacts and lots of websites targeting the phrase in the search engines but after phoning 20 companies (and my selling skills aren't that bad) got zero interest. They just didn't get the benefits and for most we didn't even get on to price. This is from an industry that should know more than most.

Another geo web design domain I owned had a site attached, and was sitting in 9th spot for the phrase. Didn't have much traffic but I got a £x,xxx sale.....

.....I do think there's more power and selling punch promoting a keyword domain with a top 10 spot with the keyword.

Seems to be a cautious UK audience need visuals whereas the Americans can imagine the potential - THINK BIG!
