5 hrs is a good time, assuming your not a pro ?

Would have give it a shot myself but not well, symptons of Swine flu

Well done deconstruction, great job..

I did it back in 2001, luckily it was slightly cooler that day, did 4hrs 8mins and lost four toenails in the process:-( Think I would have struggled yesterday in that heat...

It's hard to believe that running 26 and a bit miles is fun, but it's one of the best things I've ever done, and where else can you perform in front off the same crowds as the pros.. I've applied four times since and never got in.

In the ballot for next year so as it's the fifth year should get a place, well done mate.:)

Well done Simon!! Completing the course is one hell of an achievement!! I'd love to do something like this, but I would get cramp within the first few miles!

doodlebug - not a pro, just applied for next year and will aim for closer to 4 hours next time :)

Tricky1 - It was a little warm in places :D , but i still had a great time. I am tempted to do one later in year so its cooler, but having said that i cant see any being as much fun as the London Marathon.

cm1975 - cheers mate, i am not a runner (well i supose i might be now), i am problems doing a few miles at the start, but as long as you train for 3 days a week for 4 months is actualy quite surprising how comfortable running long-ish distances can be.

yeah might do that with some friends :)

yeah there are some truly weird pizza toppings on that site

inc: Mashed Potato Pizza Topping & Hamburger Pizza Topping :)

yeah it took 10 days last year to fill up, they said this year would be much faster.

i think they take 150,000 applications for about 36,000 places.

i think they take 150,000 applications for about 36,000 places

And out of the 36,000, you could can probably take out about 20,000 club runners, those that were injured/ill the previous year, those that get a guaranteed place for applying for the last five years, charity runners, and a handful of lesbians..

Places available in the ballot, about 20 - 25 :)

I'm in the ballot for 2010, but I might have to do it for a charity and will be required to give them £1500 min, difficult to raise in this climate....

i had my charity place well before they normaly hand them out and good job too, the last 3-6 months i saw a big drop in donations (not moaning just an observation) :)

i think some charities will hand out places early again to help people hit their targets.

has anyone been in a position where they didnt raise the required amount, if so how close and what did they charity do?
