I need a bit urgent help.

I've just sold a domain to someone who doesn't have experience of domains, registrars and registrants etc.

I've got a bit of experience registering my own stuff but I need someone to advise me on how to explain to the customer what the steps are.

I can take his email address and start the transfer with nominet but I think I need an email to send him to explain the process.

Can anyone help?

And if they don't already have a registrar in mind, make sure you send them to one that accepts domains automatically when they're tagged to it rather than requiring a confirmation.

Yep, avoid godaddy at all costs as that will complicate matters. I always recommend Domain Monster to buyers who don't know what they're doing.

Firstly congratulations on the sale.

Dear Frank,

I have now initiated the transfer at Nominet, you will have an email from them, in that email there is a link which you need to click, this will take you to the site where you will be registered as the legal owner of the domain. Simply follow their steps.

Once you have completed this process you will need to choose a registrar, with out getting into too many details, a registrar will allow you to control the domain, set up email addresses and create a website.

My choice of registrar, if you are not familiar with them, would be 123-reg.co.uk, (depends where you are, i like to push them to my registrar to simply push into their account) please open an account there and let me have your username, i will then send a request to have the domain added to your account.

It all sounds a little daunting but i am happy to take you through each step, please follow the instructions in this email and let me know how it goes.

You guys are great, many thanks.

I didn't think I'd sell something so quick.

I only sent off my first marketing email yesterday to a few end users but got a reply pretty much straight away.

I'm pleased with the result, however, it caught me a little off guard and unprepared :)

Thanks for all your help.

Phil
