Hi,

I've installed Jobroller, which has some great features and can pull in jobs from Indeed. Any job board experts who'd be interested in taking on the challenge of getting this site up and running - please give me a shout.

It will be on two good domains:

JobsLondon (couk)
JobsLondon (com)

Alternatively, if anyone is interested in these two domains + the script etc, let me know.

Phil

Why would you need an expert. You set a few options and that's that.

Ok like we did you spend a couple of days creating all the job cat's, sore eyes waiting for Wordpress to add each one zzzzz but then your sorted.

Once you've done one site you just download and upload to all the others. Switching any cats off as you need to.

Brilliant names by the way. No budget to buy them but lots of jealousy lol

I use jobroller, for one of my sites. Great wordpress theme! There's no real setup for it, if you play around in the settings you can set all the side widgets to include some adverts in job listings and on the side etc. Google some plugins as well I've got a few myself that help to enhance the site a little bit :D

Make sure you have the job and resume (CV) categories set up correctly as well. Try not to get too fancy with the look of the site, just concentrate on functionality and add some articles etc..

Feel free to check out my site freelancingjobs.co.uk

Thanks Harry.
Caz, what was your site?

Have used JR for a few projects, the latest version is v. good.
As Caz says it can be time consuming setting up the cats but needed if you are serious about the site.

Tip: add yoast wordpress seo plugin and then when setting up your cats, use the description field(s) with some nice text explaining/describing what the category is. I've got some nice rankings for highly contested (job cat) phrases doing this.

A suggestion. I would change as follows:

We connect thousands of employers and freelancers within the UK. Through our website, employers can hire freelancers to work in areas such as software, design, content writing, data entry, sales, marketing, accounting and legal services.

Hi Phil

I've only looked at the theme for testing so far looks good going to try and setup jobsinchester.co.uk with it when I finish uni next week.
You have two amazing domains to get it going with just wanted to draw all your attention to a white label solution you all might want to consider if you haven't seen it yet.

@Caz haven't tested it yet but for future reference I'm pretty sure the csv plugin on the hotel theme will let you import multiple categories fairly quickly.

Yes, I've spoken with Gary at JobsiteWhite - they are keen to chat.

Registered 1999 with 8100 exact local searches.
Both owned by recruitment agency before they went into administration.

All,

Do you guys know if the script or a plugin can import RSS feeds containing jobs from other jobsites?

they have just added a new feed from 'Simply Hired' (free to existing theme owners) paid for I believe for others.

Two problems I see there are customisation and search engines.

Ideally, the job that is being brought in would have a lengthy job description, and have the 'look and feel' as though its the original site that's displaying the job (gives the user that extra confidence).

Secondly, I'd like to block content that's brought in from search engines because of duplicate content across domains.

If Jobroller implemented this, they'd be onto a winner.
