ISPs to create new rules to block adult content on the web

Four of the UK’s biggest Internet Service Providers have today announced plans to offer customers the option to block adult content on the web. BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin are in talks to initiate new guidelines which would allow parents to let their children use the internet safely, without fear of them finding something inappropriate. Under the scheme, customers will have to opt in to be able to view adult websites when they sign up.

David Cameron sold it as an opt-out rather than an opt-in. I see no problem with offering an adult filter as an opt-in which appears to be what is happening. The opt-out sounded far too 'nanny state' and a rather pointless thing to concentrate on considering all of the other problem in the country right now.
