Hi guys, I'm new here, so hope it's ok to plough strait in with a valuation guestimate? I was inspired by "I saw this and thought of you" as popular sentiment giving phrase.

I own both isawthis.co.uk and isawthis.com I was planning in building a gifting website on them, but I may sell them if they are worth anything. What do you guys think?

I wondered if it has possible use as a site for people to share ideas about gifts or anything that the other person might like, in a kind of a pinteresty way.

OK. I'll call it as I see it.

The 'Lettering' is abysmal. It has no 'instant' recognition to power-it. (yes you do have to interpret this domain - so that's a NO)

You can have the most "powerful' and meaningful statement in history - But if it doesn't have the 'visual qualities' markets want. For 'Brandables' it's a lost cause

PS - don't ever try to 'consolidate' a dotcom (when your lucky enough to find an available one) with a .co.uk pair - Your wasting your money. that's unless your really into the dozens of English speaking country extensions on the net

I actually get the meaning of the name, I do think it would work for the gifts idea angle you mentioned but like everything, the value is in getting it ranking and earning

In my opinion, regging this type of domain for resale is hoping to get very, very lucky. A sale can happen, but it's rare.

Rgds

Thanks very much for your input fellas, I originally got the domain because I was going to set up a business on their selling gifts, I might still do so, so for that reason it kind of doesn't owe me as I bought it to use it not sell it. The only reason I even thought about selling it is because when I bought the .com (and paying a bit more than I probably should have) I immediately got an unsolicited enquiry if it was for sale. I replied that it might be and to tell me what they thought it was worth, but I never heard back from them. That gave me the idea that it might be worth more to sell it on quick.

I also had my head turned (and found this website) as I had read some blog posts by Frank Paul and being of the inquisitive/impressionable disposition I got a bit carried away thinking I might have "struck gold" :D Ah well, perhaps I'll try to be a little more considered with my next registration/purchase.

Always be aware of unsolicited offers on newly regged/ purchased names for some it’s a little goldmine it’s a good indictor the registrants newness or naivety its easy to exploit this with unsolicited enquiry?

Along the lines of “Is this name for sale” your reply “Yes” then its ok I’m interested but haven’t purchased names before so I was advised to get a valuation through xxxx.com prior to purchase blah blah blah. They may even offer to pay half / add the fee to purchase price etc you pay there off into the sunset …?

For me the names a non starter but stick a holding page up leave it a year or so if you get real enquires always start at whatever you want to sell it for there is no hard and fast indicators with this type? Theres no point in regging names like this to sell at xx as you need to reg many you've really got to think any sale has to be xxxx to cover the cost of the hundreds you’ll never sell?

More good advice, many thanks.
