It's been down for about 5 days now. I search the TM database dozens of times daily so it being down is becoming a bit of a problem for me as I can't properly research potential purchases.

For such an important service, you'd think they would have got this under control by now – or at least managed to have the service operational for periods of time over the past five days. Hope they get it sorted soon because I'm buying/registering blind at the moment.

We have experienced a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. As a precaution we have taken this service down and will resume a full service as soon as we can. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

As long as its not a defence review week with cyber attacks being hyped... oh hang on !

5 days is certainly a long time for a DDoS. That must be one mother of an attack. Glad Im not getting the bill for mitigation of that traffic!

yeah it's a pain
needed site over a couple of days
first night assumed was just a bug in their system as site is not very reliable and full of bugs. very often get dead pages and broken links. i'm thinking the team is not that great behind it anyway and were not prepared in anyway for an attack anyway, and are probably running around with theirtails between legs

as usual when comes to technology, the baddies know more than the police, and they will keep getting clobbered imho

seen very little on this tbh, only when i realised they must have been taken out, as unacceptable for a government portal to be not working for couple of days i found this searching

Seems to be a lot of this happening over the last few days. HMV.com, Play.com, Mobiles.co.uk, E2save, phones4u and buymobilephones.net all affected over the weekend.
