Hi

iona.co.uk is one of my recent catches. I've just been offered £14 for it, which I'm obviously not going to take!

It's had 470 views since I parked it at namedrive on 10th November.

What do you think it's worth?

Thanks

Well it has the population of an average village, so not a huge market.

I ask for something around £300.

How many people visit in the summer months? How important is that to the economy? Try the Scottish Tourist Board or the economic development agency for that region.

From http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/iona/iona/info.html

Iona has been a place of pilgrimage for 1500 years, and today some 140,000 people make their way here each year. The Island of Iona lies a mile off the western tip of Mull. Most people reach it by first getting to Mull from Oban via the ferry to Craignure. A number of companies in Oban arrange day trips, some also taking in a visit to Staffa. From Craignure, you then need to traverse 35 miles of single track roads to Fionnphort, the ferry terminus for Iona.

The question is what do you think its worth if you dont thinks its worth £14

iona is also an international software solutions company with probably a very good turnover, you'll have to check figures, but if you don't want to risk the wrath of a DRS go £650 and see what their response is.

It's a four letter domain, anyone could want it, I'd never heard of the place iona and doubt very many others have. iona is also a band, an old people's care body... check results.

A DRS is £700 odd quid, offer under if scared or if you're sure of yourself, tip it at £1500. It's not the worth to someone in iona, it's the wider need for that domain.

Archive.org shows it hasn't been used for a few years, the last by taynet in 1999.

The majority of overture searches, 1000 a month shows holiday searches but a few show the tech side.On .com they show basketball so the buyer could be some nine year old from England who loves a US team.

It all depends on your needs, your progression and what your next moves are. And who the buyer is, anonymous or known. Do they use hotmail or exisiting address, is the IP uk, Europe, America or elsewhere? do they use disclaimer notes in their email?

£14 or £650, your decision. if you want to move up from £14, tell them there's a barter process and you both carry on until you reach an amicable figure, that way you're assured of at least a couple of hundred.

I don't see why the software company has any call on iona.co.uk..... it's so generic/non-specific.

I wouldn't approach the software company about them buying it .... I'd just wait.

A good domain name, in my view, worth holding on to .... someone else may approach you in the future if they want a brandable name.

How about setting up a scottish holidays directory with it?

Cheers, Luke

Lucky, Fred has had an offer, I'm just saying if he pushes it to £650 if it's .com they may say yes straight away, if it's someone else they may wish to barter.

Thanks, Lee.

Fred - Is the current offer from the software company?

Cheers, Luke
