Hi,

Just cancelled a .co.uk at nominet

It said the name was now "scheduled for deletion"

Wondering if anyone knows how long it takes / what time of day these are released ?

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks.

I will keep checking then.

Do you know if there are people watching this with a view to picking them up... like the drop-catching ?

Highly unlikely, there's no way of knowing that you've cancelled it. Unless someones got it booked at a dropcatcher somewhere by chance.

Great,
Thanks.

Don't think it has broad / domainer appeal anyway.

I'm unsure if cancelled domains show as suspended before they drop. If they do, now that you've announced it on here, someone could PRSS you and find the domain that's suspended before it's renewal date and go for it.

If you have cancelled it by mistake, ring Nominet and ask them to reinstate it.

Thanks All.

Got it now.....
It was about four hours timelag in this case.

Could someone possibly explain how to delete a domain?

I can delete a new registration, and one I registered, but when I try and delete one which was regged say at domain monster but now on my tag, it refuses it?

I marked it with no longer required but it looks like it will stay that way till expiry.

You have to cancel it via Nominet online services.

Delete and cancel are two different things.

It's referred to as 'cancel domains' on Nominet, there's a link using that text on the right of where you find the 'registrant transfer' link.

Amazing just how two-tier our UK registration/management system is, I'm not complaining as its almost fail-safe - as long as the novice remembers the big difference between the registrar, register and the registry. (or something like that)
