I registered a .com name for someone tonight at about 10.50pm and within few minutes I received an email from someone saying "you were lucky etc etc, will you sell it. You must have access to enom database ...etc etc..Will you sell for 20$"
Does anyone know how he would have got the address to send the mail to so quick ,as surely doesnt show on whois or anywhere after 5 minutes ???

Thanks

Was it a deleted name caught?

If not would check integrity of registrar as some sell lists... some companies do anything for an extra few quid :(

Nope he said it was free all along ( i hadnt seen the name before, only saw it free when I thought it was name worth having) , but he was going to keep it for 5 days and then if no traffic was going to drop it.Not sure really just one of those flukes when he went for it about same time as me. What was puzzling was how he got my email address so quick when he wouldnt have known who had registered it, or could he find that out say 15 minutes after I had registered it ??

Yet more proof that our searches and registrations are being watched by others possibly?

In the past month I've had a running battle to secure some names...

Others to on the forum have noted these sort of issue too...

We are not alone...

As I say what puzzles me is how he got the email address that is specifically and only used for that domain name ,within about say 15 minutes of my registering it for someone ?. Strange. Its definately a first for me . Could the whois show the registration details 15 mins after registering it ?.

Was it a 'catch all' email account?... That could answer your question maybe...

Whois listing times can vary... eg: betterwhois.com vs whois.sc times can vary greatly from what I've noticed.

Nope, and even if it was they would still need to know the email address (i.e.
the @whichdomain.com) as they did not have any part of my email address,
