hi, i have the following: all are co.uk domains

1. iva2debt
2. simplyivas
3. refinnacingoptions
4. debt-consolidation-program
5. consumerdebtsolutions - tried to get into the debt market, even got the site to PR2 but gave up
6. flyny

how does it all work, i take it theres T&C's and the domain name is directed or pointed to the renting parties server etc???

regards

yes there is T&C's, Rob would be ur man to get an agreement from, but the first thing you have to do is get them ranked in the search engines and be able to show some stats.

none of those names are strong generics in their own right (what I'm saying is if you had loans.co.uk it wouldn't matter if it wasn't listed in search engines) so with a bit of effort and a bit patience you will get them ranking.

Only then will you be able to offer them out for lease.

what about boxedgifts.co.uk

its an amazon store and has a PR2, i can get vistor info from my hosting company. this must have a chance?

been live for 1.5 years and comes up good in search engines under boxed gifts, well on yahoo anyway at least. has many pages indexed too, does that help.

regards

The number of domains rented as opposed to sold is tiny because people who are serious about investing time and money in developing a site want to have the assurance that they own it, that someone can't turn around and take it back or put the rent up extortionately after all their hard work. So finding someone to rent a name is not going to be easy unless it is an excellent generic or has considerable traffic - or unless you can find a mug punter.

Generally the only reason why someone who knows what they're doing would rent a domain is if the traffic the name already has yields a revenue to the renter which is higher than the rental cost. (Unless there is a clause where he can buy it for a certain amount later, in which case we're really talking about a "lease-purchase option").

Hoping you can rent a domain out is like hoping you can sell an average domain for a fortune. Many inexperienced domainers hold out for such fantasies but the money never comes through. Put yourself in the eyes of the buyer and it's not too hard to see why.
