How long?

Cancelled my contracts with 1and1, set all IPS tags for names i wanted to keep to 123-REG (set to as soon as poss)...3 days later, they still haven't changed How long is this supposed to take?

I actually rang their support (oh if you want a free version of their 0870 tech supt number try this 01753490401...it's a whole lot cheaper ) and got what sounded like a child (didn't speak english well) ...as you can imagine that call didn't run smoothly!!

TAG changes are pretty much instant once the request has been sent.

and they try and trick you into buying a .eu while your in the process...

*In fact I shouldn't mention time, I've too much of it. I'm hopefully going to the cinema tonight, films are in English so that's a bonus, I fancy Shooter or some action but they want Spiderman 3, I don't know, girls :-D mind you the first was good albeit the cliff hanger and two was ok'ish.

I transferred one out of 1&1 yesterday and it was done same day.
Surely you should be moving OUT of 123-reg not in?

work use 123-reg

funny thing is.. we have our own tag! a unix (as a registered nameserver) and a windows server, and they insist on transfering to 123 and use their DNS.

well i know it's not ideal, but i had to get out of 1and1 and i know that the custom nameservers work how i need it in 123-reg. I would have gone heart, but they were rude and told me what i needed to do would involve them manually setting up my nameservers each time, something they weren't willing to do on 150 domains.

I'm with fasthosts/ukreg now and so far they are ok, though their site is a bit crap for a few things. Many times i've tried to reg domains with them and their site says the domain is taken even though it isn't!. Don't know where to next once they undoubtedly piss me off!

Not only that but I changed nameservers hours ago on one domain and that is taking an age to change, hopefully after having contacted support they will expedite the actions without further ado.

I've since changed tag and that wasn't immediate, if they can't change nameservers in reasonable time, there's little point hanging around so tag change is the only way forward. Oh well, tick tock, three hours with their new support now, better than three weeks though eh...

OK cheers, I just like getting the ****** with 123, it's taking me ages to move out as well. Sill, the change has been made now.

stender, ive been with fasthosts since 1999, only had a few probs which they sorted quite quickly (well after i threatened to sue them, long story).

if you try to reg a domain that u know is free to reg but fasthosts system says on their system, simply email support through the control panel and ask them to remove the domain as you want to register it.

I have had this many times now and they do it pretty much straight away, hope that helps!
