I've briefly discussed this with Doodlebug among others but how legitimate is it to put affiliate links onto your facebook page or in your status, both in terms of facebooks rules and the aff networks rules?

It's only going to be clicked by your friends but if you had large numbers of friends it could make a small return..

I'd be more worried about the network rules than facebook. It might be worth asking them. They will surely track the origin of the clicks anyway, so it would be best to clear it in advance.

I'm following a dj on facebook and he does promote his music using a tradedoubler link so I guess its allowed.

He does have a couple of hundred thousand friends on facebook compared to the 10,20,100,200 most of us have so you :)

So yes, I would say its allowed, just like your allowed to promote some affiliate schemese in email promotions.

You definately can't place eBay affiliate links on Facebook but plenty of other networks/companies will let you place links wherever you can so its a question of reading the t&cs for every network/company I'm afraid.

I'll go and do some research! It wouldn't be ebay aff links so that's ok.

It's not something I'm going to be upset about if it's not possible, it's just something I've wondered really.

I've got about 7-800 friends on fb I think and I know probably 90% of them pretty well, so I could make the links quite targetted to various groups of friends and there's already an element of authority / trust behind the links because they come from me, rather than just displayed on some website that my friends know nothing about.

Are there any represetatives from any of the big aff networks on the forum who could set the record straight, aff window for example?

I don't think that using affiliate links on facebook is allowed, although it would probably still track and be unnoticed by the merchant.

Although If you create an article/news report on your website with links going through an affiliate link then there is no reason to why that cannot be posted from your facebook wall/to feed?
