For the sake of argument, say somedomain.co.uk & somedomain.uk are worth £100.

What value would you put on somedomain.co.uk alone?

What value would you put on somedomain.uk alone?

How are you arriving at these figures?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I'm basing mine on lll .uk sales, .uk alone seems to sell around 20-25% of what the pair would sell at. So I'm doing 75/80 to 20/25 split.

If both domains aren't available though I don't think think the % are the full value.

Ie. if the .uk is worth 20-25% then the .co.uk is worth around 50%

I find it interesting / strange / worrying that domain investors are currently valuing .uk at roughly 25% the value of the matching .co.uk, even though .uk is *supposed* to be superseding .co.uk domain names over the next 5 years.

Does that mean you don't see .uk domains superseding .co.uk domains in terms of usage and value long term OR are you basing the current valuation of 25% due to the (so far) slow overall uptake of .uk domains ?

Would agree with bensd, I'd value the .co.uk at around 80% and .uk at 20%, but if only the .co.uk is owned, probably around 60% value. Would be much happier catching the .co.uk than the .uk still.

I wouldn't want to buy a .uk or co.uk on it's own atm to resell unless they were an absolute bargain or I needed one to match the other id caught.

I would value co.uk at least double the .uk for the time being, .uk might establish itself, but who knows if/when that will be.

Buying and selling paired (albeit .uk rights) only.

The turn to .uk being "top dog" may take a decade.

You'd have to be a brave soul going solo on a .uk without the .co.uk.

I have only 2 .uk thus far.

It depends on the domain.

If its some low value EMD that is only of value as an SEO play, I'd say maybe 60/40 split in favour of the .co.uk (.co.uk is a known entity, we know it gets minor EMD boost etc).

If its an actual brandable domain then I think one half of a pair is worthless. You can't do anything at all with Elephant.co.uk without owning the .uk
