Hi All,

anyone have any idea how accurate an estibot appraisal is?
Is it just one of those things to ignore?

I have a domain that I've considered listing for perhaps a few hundred pounds that estibot seems to think is worth 5 figures!

Then I have other domains that are good brandable domains that estibot values at a couple of hundred.

what's you're exprerience?

Tear up a piece of paper, write numbers on each bit, chuck them in the air. Read the number as they land.

That 'valuation' is more accurate.

Estibot is a not accurate at all! I would't plan my life around it. Best to steer clear.

Estibot/Valuate etc = a bit of fun, nothing more

I tend to throw my domains up there as an when an enquiry comes in - wouldn't take a blind bit of notice of the valuation (always makes me laugh) , I do it for a quick CPC and basic stats.

I'd say Estibot serves a purpose, inasmuch as having some useful metrics.

Of course the valuations are all over the place and it is heavily skewed to .com's / Americanism's.

I'd also say show me one individual or company that offers accurate valuations. The best anyone can achieve is a guide based largely on irrelevant historical sales data -- a guide that should be taken with the same pinch of salt as Estibot. IMO the reason nobody can offer accurate valuations is because they have no idea how motivated the buyer or seller is.

The difference between a Sedo valuation and an Estibot valuation....mmmm about 50 bucks I think ;-).

Tangible or intangible assets follow the same rules -- they are worth exactly what you can get for them (assuming the owner wants to sell).

agreed

Hi All, got to say thanks for the the quick replies.
Agree with you all totallly.
The metrics were useful but the valuations seem all over the place.

Just wish some of them were true! lol

Spot-on

And there your years of Psychology, Investigative and motivational training come into play - nobody said it was easy

If its absolutely ridiciously high then use it for your benefit...i:e; estibot value the domain at $10k but you can have this domain for £3k...;)
