Help - Problem With Sedo Purchase

Hi There,

I have purchased a domain name via Sedo that was on a BIN.

I have paid Sedo and they have informed the seller to start the transfer.

I have tracked the seller down and found his phone number.

I called him and he is unaware that the name was for sale.

Nominet shows Sedo's namer serves on the domain:

ns1.sedoparking.com
ns2.sedoparking.com

I have tried to call Sedo but the UK number on the Sedo site (02070672496) is a different business!

Does anyone have a direct contact number for Sedo in the UK so I can call and try and sort this out?

Also, I presume that the sale is a legally binding contract?

Thanks,

Ben.

Contact Sedo via the sales transaction thread (on sedo.com). State your concerns. They should respond within 24hrs.

Thanks, iv done that and Im waiting for them to come back to me...

Unfortunately, Sedo seems to show stock which they do not have rights to sell. I have a similar purchase in progress for a domain which I suspect has already been sold. I've been waiting on a transfer since the 12th Nov. Now hoping to get my money back.

Sedo needs to up their game in regards to filtering their old domain stocks.

Sedo Transaction Not Completed

I recently won an action at Sedo which was started by a very well known acorn member and drop catcher. I fired over the payment immediately and the "said" Acorn member did not complete the transaction, and has since not replied to ANY of my messages even though i can see he's read them on FB!

You would have thought that if a seller did not complete a transaction on the Sedo platform, he or she would be suspended / have a block on their account for a certain period of time! however, i can see the user is still active and selling his domains which in my opinion Sedo should stop as a form of punishment.

I can take legal action against the seller since he failed to fulfill his part of the contract, and thankfully Sedo have now made all his contact details available to me, along with both parties acceptance of the terms and conditions. Although Sedo cancelled the sale due to the seller not responding in the agreed timeframe, this in no way affects the Purchase & Sales Agreement between the seller and the buyer.

Hopefully you will have a better experience and the sale will complete :)

Best,
Barry

As has been indicated Sedo have a bad habit of retaining names on their system that have dropped and then been re-registered to new owners. I have noticed this on multiple occasions in the past as I used to hand register quite a lot of drops, a number of which still remained for sale on Sedo in the original owners account.....I'm assuming that's what's happened in this case. It's pretty shoddy really, I imagine you will get your money back as the Escrow will fail but not sure what else you can do.

A number of domain names that I have recently registered (via drop catching services and via straight registrations) are also listed for sale on Sedo!

Should I inform Sedo they are no longer for sale (via Sedo)? Is it really up to me to do that ?

(BTW I am not the (non-) seller in any of the above issues!!!)

K

I've found stuff of mine on Sedo in the past that shouldn't have been there - it looks like they pretty much never clean up their database proactively no matter what happened to the domain registration.

That's not to suggest that's the issue here, but you certainly can't expect listings to be current and accurate...
