Guardian newspaper switches to .com and sees traffic growth

As someone has stated in the comments, aren't these figures just based on the increase in traffic to the .com domain and nothing to do with the .co.uk?

Compete.com shows June visitors for guardian.co.uk as 6,375,000, which makes the increase nowhere near as massive as the article suggests!

6.3 to 7.1 million doesn't seem particularly newsworthy. Given the site itself is a newspaper... the Syria stuff and the Guardian being directly involved in the Snowden stuff could easily account for the extra traffic.

It's almost certainly going to be the Snowden stuff. I know I checked more frequently when there was that raft of revelations seemingly every day.

Agreed, it's almost a given.
