I am developing an accommodation directory and will be looking to offer website services to companies wishing to promote them individual business within this sector. Is it worth me registering the all the geo domains covering the specific sector I am looking to entering?

Would this be a waste of resources, or would it help me gain a strong market position? And, how can I filter the good from the plain awful.

It's hard to follow what you're trying to do without a fictitious example, but if you're talking about .co.uk generics for a local area that you will be personally able to service "in the flesh" then having them might give you an edge.

If you're trying to pick up keyword*area.co.uk (where "keyword" is whatever you're targetting, and "area" is each town/city) for the whole country, that's an exercise in frustration and a recipe for expensive credit card bills. It's impossible to build out thousands of separate directories and give each the attention it deserves.

Hi Edwin, an example would be WyomingCamping.com and CampingWyoming.com. These domains would then lead to a holding page with a clear message offering design services and the lease of these 2 domains.

I would have no physical presence, I would only consider developing these domains out for individual clients.

Would you be able to register the geo keyword, service, product etc or vice versa in many if any commercially viable names ? wouldn’t the fact you could mean there’s not the demand ?

Its nearly impossible to register any UK geo keyword. However where the sector is less developed in the USA its seems earlier to obtain the related .com domains.

Identify as much as you can about the target audience, Do most use “G” etc type in keyword service, service keyword see which comes up first with the auto complete algorithms, ask user's of the services there preferences, does it alter e.g. on home pc, mobile phone etc check gkt results, phone potential buyers find out there wording preferences etc (even if you register the correct combinations which drives the most traffic etc if they don’t think its right regardless of if it is or not selling to them will be a headache? )

To be honest g local pretty much killed directories, returns against effort etc that and the fact you can register the names all I can say is good luck
