I very recently purchased a funny quotes domain name and have set up a basic website there. The look of the quotes for the front page differ from the interal ones, which looked a bit plain. I know it's a basic look, but I think it's a start. Do you think I should add categories of funny quotes, or just leave it as it is for people to click through pages of quotes? I might add a search function at some point so that could also help people find quotes based on specific themes.

It isn't indexed yet, but if I eventually get ranked for some quote terms it could bring in a decent number of visitors.

When I am search for quotes, I look for a type of quote.

Work Related, Female Related, etc, so I can find what I need for the purpose. There is no harm having a random quote area tho.

Thanks for the feedback skinner! The site's only been online for a few days, but I'll get around to adding more specific sections if it looks to be useful. I'll definitely add a random quotes feature, as I can see that increasing pageviews quite considerably.

Nice simple site, would probably add some more colour, I like random quotes, facts and pics sites.

Good luck with the site

Interesting quotes; is the 'submit' function for comments, or new user-submitted quotes?

Futuredomain - Many thanks!

Gotlivechat - Quotes really. I could add a comments section so that people can comment on the quotes. It might be useful seo-wise to have more words on the page, but I'm not sure that I have time to moderate all of the spam etc. Primarily it's for people to submit quotes, though I've already queued lots of them myself so it's not all that important.

The site seems to be going well so far, though it'll probably take a good few months a rank well for it. I bought it in part because I already have a funny pictures site , and it seems to compliment that quite well, as part of a funny portfolio.

nice idea, but if you could add the categories and then organize the quotes then this is better. like if Education is the category then all the education related quotes goes there.

Thanks for your take on it. I guess I could take a number of approaches:

1) Just provide funny quote updates and let people click through them.

2) tag/categorise the name of the person being quoted.

and/or

3) tag/categorise based on topic.

Thankfully some people tend to be quoted quite heavily so number 2 might not be a bad approach. I can see the benefit of categorising based on topic though quite a few of the quotes don't really have a theme to them as such. I'm going to let the site tick over a bit while I think it over.

Yes nice idea about your approach. Try your categorization in SEO friendly way. Nice meta in each category and SEO friendly template.

Your http://www.horseracingtips.org.uk/ website is good example for categorization. this website should be ranked highr in google but currently only 0 PR, i guess this is new domain.

You need to work hard to rise PR of this website, currently what strategies you are working on to get higher ranking for this domain?

Yeah the funny quotes site is only a few weeks old..

That's a wonderful design Ashton. Very clean, yet effective.I might email the designer and see if he/she can reproduce something similiar for me.

khuram4u - When I get to work on the site a bit more hopefully PR will come along with that. I'm not too fussed about PR specifically. I need to free up more time to work on the site really. At present a new quote is added daily, but I want to find the time to work on design etc. The example Ashton posted has spurred me on a bit!
