Forum Vigilante!

I dont know about the rest of you, and maybe i shouldn't let it bother me, but i am getting sick of some of the sales post's by certain new members that are frankly insulting to the intelligence, see below :

http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/top-l...main-yes-premium-highly-brandable-domain.html

http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/top-l...n-highly-brandable-profit-revenue-making.html

http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/uk-domains-sale-wanted/9955-creditsreport-co-uk-rich-name.html

It's bad enough having our intelligence insulted on a daily basis by the government.

We are not meant to post comments in the sales threads, but it's very difficult not to when some fool is posting ridiculous claims about crap names, maybe Admin needs to add a new sticky warning new members that falsifying stat's is a bannable offence?

I do PM people if they are posting the same name over and over or just bumping it every day.

It seems to be a .COM thing, i don't get it as much from domainers with UK domains.

I can get tougher if you all feel the need....

I do make a sort of grrrrrrrr noise when I read a post like...

bing56noo.co.uk - going to be really big in coming months, offers £xxx, pm me, all reasonable offers considered
... that has been posted by a new member with only 3 posts. However, I am soon calm as I know no one sensible here is going to buy it and our irritating new member will soon wise up.

Part of me says stomp on them but part of me says you have better things to do and we will always have peeps at the extreems of reality... :(

remember we were all newbies once ;)

this is true
i think anything posted in a sales thread should be ignored though the ones that bump ebay sales get right on my nerves

the problem is it only takes a couple of easy searches to dismiss most of these new posts eg quotes around phrases. 99% of us know how to get the right results from overture so i'd like to see the admins close threads and only allow pm s for offers where the stats quoted are unrealistic with something like

"if you are genuinly interested in aquiring this domain please contact this seller by pm only"

If everything was by PM what would we read Charles ;)

in theory a sales thread would only be a statement of sale. What else can you say here - youre either interested or you aint.

If they want to open the doors to a torrent of abuse then they should post in the apprasial section - wherer we can all let rip! :D

paullas is a moderator and admin - 2 is should be enough considering as we've already stated there are only about 30 regular posters

I'm sure there's a setting/mod there somewhere for Vbulletin to say a user can't start a new thread until he's contributed to xx other threads. There's definately one for pm's cos we use it.

Would stop the 'sign up just to put a sales thread' people, and if they start spamming threads just to get to the limit then delete & ban the buggers!

ps how about installing the arcade mod for when we get bored! ;)

Could you not use the thread voting feature and when a thread gets a certain number of * Terrible votes from established members the thread would get deleted or hidden until a mod gets the chance to review it?

The other thing I have noticed recently is that there are threads which do not include the domain in the title, and just say things like "Great Domain"
