Hi,

I'm new to the forum

i hope to learn a thing or two from the people on here... and hopefully make some cash.... if not it will still be fun

What do people use as their domain name search tool,

Also

what domain register companies are favoured for buying?

Im a fan of easyspace!?

Thanks

Lo The General,

See my 'some newb questions' post in the newbie forum, theres a couple of search sites mentioned there. I also like the search at daily.co.uk & have reged with them, after reading positive posts by respected acorn domainers.

hope that helps a little.

For .co.uk, then Heart Internet have been fine for me (had some issues with .eu registrations, probably ironed out by now). For .com, then GoDaddy has been fine.

Don't get carried away regging new names, try and sell some before you reg too many. Selling is harder than buying.

I agree with accelerator, heart internet are brilliant. The domain names are cheap but more importantly their after sales team are superb.

you will see from a recent post of mine i bought the domain name pregnancys.co.uk, at first i thought jackpot what a brill domain. Then some kind members on here pointed out my school boy error (pregnancies was the correct way to spell it).

I contacted heart and they were able to cancel it before it was put in my name. They then give me a domain name credit so i could buy another.

I dare say alot of companies would have said your mistake deal with it.

I recently tried to reg a name with Heart and was met with 'not available' in the extn I wanted. However was available to reg elsewhere ... So I regged it.

Happened a few times. Be aware!

Yeah ive encountered that once or twice to be fair, infact i contacted them regarding it and it turns out the reason it shows like that is because its showing as a reference in somone elses account.

I basically looked on Heart for a domain, showed NA so registered it with 123 reg. I then thought id transfer it to heart so all domains would be together.

It went across fine but didnt show in my account area, so when i contacted the after care team, they explained the domain reference problem. Was all sorted once i emailed them a copy of the nominet certificate.

i now open heart and 123 reg and cross reference any UNKNOWN OR N/A Domians.

Positive thing about 123 reg, you can use paypal which is handy for me. Just wish Heart would intergrate that.

For the .co.uk, Heart has been fine for me. However, I have encountered a number of glitches/bugs with their interface, particularly for other extensions, which they seem to be gradually ironing out.
