Good afternoon all,

This site is my first foray into affiliate marketing, it's called www/4FreeBets/co/uk and it's about 80% done.

I'd be grateful for any feedback - good or bad - specifically should I add a blog as a vehicle for frequent, fresh content to improve SEO?

I am working on a few dozen sporting event related 'minisites' to support my main site and I am developing domains such as SixNations/org/uk, EpsomDerby/co/uk, BritishOpenGolf/org/uk, BritishGrandPrix/org/uk for that purpose.

I am also looking for credible, relevant link exchanges if anyone is interested...

Alex

Looks very good to me...can I be rude and ask how long it took?

Thank you. I had the site built and I've uploaded all of the deal details, links, banners etc. I've been working on it for about 6-8 weeks, there will be c100 free bet offers and its time consuming. I'm trying to complete 1-2 minisites per week to support the main site too.

Its ok but some of the styling is a bit crude, the 7px black border makes it look like an 80's site I would get rid of this altogether.

Where's the <h1> tag? this is important for SEO and how about a bit of text, a couple of paragraphs mentioning what the site is about this is also good for SEO, also maybe a few articles about betting or betting tips?

Good luck with it, it's a good start.:D

Site looks good, great idea, but couldn't agree with Denchomsky more..

the 7px black border makes it look like an 80's site

I tried it with a single pixel grey border (#CCC) and that tied everything together, without being in your face.

As the site is enclosed in a wrapper, why not make the background an image, giving the main area a bit of drop shadow. If you want me to knock something up send me a PM.

Looking good...

I think the site is more than fine for what it aims to accomplish! If you want to bet online, this site will tell you which vendors offer which deposit match bonus etc. and that's the name of the game.

Didn't know there were sites in the 80's. As a matter of fact, according to wikipedia History of the Internet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1989, whilst working at CERN, Tim Berners-Lee invented a network-based implementation of the hypertext concept.

I'd put money down that people in late 1989 didn't use 7px black borders, wonder if W3C even existed back then? 1994 was its inception I think.

Some of the most respected premium themes such as those by Brian Gardner, Woo Themes, Elegant themes ALL use between wide (7-10px) borders...I guess they got it wrong eh?

I see h1 tags on the pages that matter...the actual product/service pages..which is where h1's really count.

My disclaimer is I'm the one who created the site based on the Church theme by Brian Gardner. I'm not here to defend my "design" however, to say it looks 80's is a misnomer and to say "get rid of it altogether" I think is purely a subjective opinion.

TipTop, come down from your high horse... careful it's a long way down.

Nobody said your design wasn't functional, from what I remember everybody said what a good idea the site was. What you have wasted about 300 words on is justfying your border.

I have looked at the Church theme by Brian Gardner, and a great design it is, and yes there is a 7px border, but you have to look for it, as it seamlessly blends into the background. Not stand out like a couple of monkeys nuts..

You're right Tricky, pretty silly defending a 7px border lol

I apologize for diverting from the original intention of this post. Everyone's got an opinion and I'm cool with that :)

lol@monkeys nuts

Everyone enjoy the weekend

True i'ts fine but not faultless.

A bit pedantic, but you are correct, I guess it's a turn of phrase.

Yeah but there is no valid reason not to have one on your home page, or do you think the homepage doesn't matter?

This would be a good site for someone that owned an existing sports related site or forum from which they could send traffic.

Building another four or five sites is a bad idea. You'll spread yourself too thin and lose too much time.

You need to find a way to now start integrating some "live" feeds into your content and getting some original content on there.

I'm about to start building a betting site so I'd be happy to share ideas and collaborate if you'd like to?

Hi All,
Thank you all for your comments, much appreciated. Loads to work on. I'm adding a blog which will provide me with a channel to add regular, unique content to the site. Infact I've just entered into an agreement for unique content to be provided by a 3rd party in return for a permanent banner ad and link. Challenge for me as an inexperienced webmaster is how best to drive traffic to a new site! Any help/tips gratefully received...
Storebuilder - please feel free to PM me with your proposal/ideas/help, or anyone else for that matter.
Thanks again all.
Alex
