I have found a number of search terms free to reg that have est. CPC of around the £20 mark. Exact search, however, is just in the hundreds.

Would you reg such a name, and if so, what would you do with them?

Many people would register with only a few hundred exacts, I know Edwin would, he said that in a post the other day, I've seen others who say that they don't even look at the exact searches, even if it has none and they like the name, they would buy/reg it.

Sometimes you come across a nice looking name, but with an incredibly low exact search count, whilst I generally like names with a minimum of 1000 exacts, a nice name with lower searches is still a goer as you could seo it to better search terms anyway, just my opinion.

You need to compare it with the amount of pages and competition in Google. If it gets searches in the hundreds a month and there are only a few thousand pages in google then great! Make a mini site and catch the adsense profit!

both terms im looking at pull up about 8000 pages UK and 300,000 global.

never bought on the back of CPC amounts before.

8000 UK 300'000 World

That's nothing and should achieve page 1 no problem but must be i'm guessing it's a niche market in a highly competitive one for the not so niche product or service.

Mobile contracts - but a specific phone
Insurance - but a specific type (pet maybe)
Broadband - In a certain area or type. Gaming broadband
etc.................
