Hey y'all,
Wanted to start a fresh discussion going on selling to end users...and I suppose wanted to know when the trend here was. Do most people just sell within the trade, or just to end users and / or a bit of both?
I understand that there's an argument to be had for waiting and being approached, but in someway I find flaws in that because 1) that's true only if you hold excellent / valuable domains to begin with. Either bought early or later for more. 2) do joe public even know about whois let alone making the effort to reach out to the domain owner ? I'm not always convinced they do...
Sometimes it's easier to just buy a variation in the name......
From experience, I owned A LOT of wine domains at one point (I think over 100) - and ended up selling them to a wine investment company for 100quid / piece (they only took 45) but even still...
Inspired by posts on here mainly, I did go ahead and email some people and because I actually think I'm not a bad on the phone, in many instances I would call and actually pitch the domain name....
The 2 objections I tend to get was:
1) errrr...we already have a domain name, thank you very much. - even if the one I'm offering is better....
2) my web person does all that stuff. I just don't get involved...
Now both of course are valid responses......
So I guess as I said above - just wanted to get a discussion going about those who do end user sales, techniques and moreover patterns you may have noticed in the process.....
What else........ermm....I think that was it....
oh yeah..
Happy Friday
