Has anyone been recently? it's a long term dream of the girlfriend to go see the pyramids and I don't mind saying that I'm quite excited about it too, along with our idea of getting to Peru when we're both fitter to make the journey up the mountains, has anyone been to Egypt recently? is it relatively safe if we get a good guide?

I've suggested we get our own guide but will join a tour group (I think) but will try to get a personal recommendation off tour group guide so can do our own thing, any recommendations on duration, is three weeks too much or just enough? and again is it safe'ish or not?

My Aunt went not so long ago and enjoyed it, can't remember exactly what she said but I know she had a good time, people were friendly.
