Is it worth listing Domains on Ebay?

All the ones I've seen have no bids (high starting price) or 99p.

Yes, decent names go for decent prices.

Yeah if you have good names then they will sell, but average/poor names require a more 'active' pursuit of a buyer. People who look for names on ebay are only looking for 3 things in my opinion:

short 3 character domains in TLDs
Generics with traffic.

Anything else will be lost amongst the competition unless it is particularly topical.

Whenever I've looked it's crap, hardly any decent domain sales and obviously that includes my own, sedo slate ebay something rotten but then they would, they can't rip you off for £70 - you know they don't even call the proposed buyer? makes you wonder what they do so I've just lost £130.

Someone on here said after listing my domains, if I put my domains on ebay they'd probably go for a tenner, well they were in auction on here for a tenner, what's the difference? logic?

I had a go the last 5p auction day and shifted a few names and then a couple after the auctions closed, came away with about £1500.. so yep its worth doing IMO.

BTW its 5p day again today.. Im not having a go this time as im cutting the grass!

In your opinion, was £1500 a fair price for what you sold or would you have valued them higher?

I was happy with that, they where all non traffic names I wanted to shift and only cost me reg fee, Im only interested in hanging on to traffic names.

If I sell a name on ebay and turn a fiver into £50-£250 then thats ok.. end of the day that probs works out at 2 years PPC rev on a name anyway.

Just a quick warning ...

I was nearly caught out recently when looking to buy a collection of (40) domains on eBay.

The names were not great, but @ 99p + (the lower) Nominet transfer fee, I thought it may be worth a punt.

However, when investigatin the domains, all of them were well past their renewal date. (In fact, most of them were past the 92/99 day drop dates. Don't know why they hadn't dropped).

Be careful !

Caught out! what the hell are you talking about.

Edit your post you freak

I dont think its anything to be alarmed at, your buying the names not the remainder of the registration. I won the last bulk auction Sean had (20 odd names) with a similiar registarion period left.

Which reminds me I need to get those transfered, i'll send you a form Sean after the 1st Oct.

Damn, over slept and missed it. Some nice names Sean.. real bargain for someone.

Hi ya Chris,

Yep sure, 1st of Oct is a good idea to get your lot of names changed over.

I was actualy going to email you to see if there was a problem

None of the names in my ebay auction were going as I already pre-requested the bulk transfer document (Nominet knew about my auction! ;) )

There will be a good 2-3 months left on each name ;)
