Just browsing the news and came across this from yesterday about the first web pages from the early 90's reminded me of the good old days.
Notepad, front page and the original dreamweaver, experimenting in geocities and using iframes.

Fast forward 20 Years and at the click of a button it's all done for you.

On a side note: the sun has come out.

I like the quote about them not knowing the password. I think that is a bit of romance being added to the story.... I heard it on the news the other day and thought, Really?

I think it would take a couple of hackers from Eastern Europe about 10 minutes to hack a 20+ year old computer.

I remember getting a job (one of only 3 I have ever had) at the first commercial ISP in the UK sometime around 1999, and having to set up a web hosting space for a ladies mud wrestling company as my first task. :D

I was pretty unimpressed by 'the net' and could not really see how it would interest me at that time. Christ knows how I got that job!

Sir Tim's Next computer is, I believe, in the National Computer Museum at Bletchley Park (at least, that was what I was told by one of the volunteer curators when I visited last year - it certainly was a Next computer!) If that's the case, it may well have some of his old files still on it...

iframes are still going stong!

heck even G still uses them in it's js files in some of the most important revenue making systems.

strip all the gloss away and its same stuff happening...

what bugs me is all these little shits leaving uni, bashing out a bit of php and selling sEO - how can they understand the Internet to where it is now - who's employing them, that's what I don't get?

</git>

using iframes.
